About Don Gallagher

Hi, and thanks for coming to the Don Gallagher LLC site. I am the owner, but more importantly I’m a speaker, a trainer, a consultant, an engineer, a husband, a father, and an adamant lifelong learner.

My Work Today

These days, I’m following my heart by doing work that really matters to me.

My primary work involves helping organizations, and their people, to be better….a lot better. It’s about helping employees to have more effective workplace conversations, be more productive, be better leaders and enjoy better relationships. All of this leads to greater engagement, more satisfaction, and a higher performing business.

As of July 1, 2014, I also operate a  site that’s dedicated to helping engineers (and engineering students) to build their awareness, knowledge, and skill levels, around what are most commonly referred to as “soft skills”.

Background

I grew up on a farm in rural eastern Iowa, and earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University. After graduation, I launched into a diverse career of nearly 30 years, including 25 years in engineering, marketing, sales and training roles with Deere and Company.

Along the way, I earned an MBA at the UW in Madison, WI, ran my own engineering recruiting firm, coached coworkers in Deere’s internal Coaching Program, studied coaching at the Hudson Institute and developed a passion for helping individuals and groups enhance their performance.

During my last 3½ years with John Deere, I managed the creation and delivery of leadership, sales, and management development training programs for the leadership teams at Deere’s top North American agricultural equipment dealerships.

Personal

Today my home is outside of Kansas City (Olathe, KS) where I live with my wife, Linda. We’ve been married for 31 years and have three adult sons. In my free time, I enjoy reading, snowboarding, wakeboarding, running and biking.

As a strong advocate of giving back, I support and volunteer frequently in and around Kansas City for Harvesters Community Food Network, for Operation Breakthrough, and for CAPS.
